New Delhi: It was a historic day for Indian T20I cricket as the team put on a dominant display to crush Bangladesh by a massive 133-run margin, securing a clean sweep in the three-match series on Saturday (October 12) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The hero of the day was Sanju Samson, who dazzled with a brilliant century, scoring 111 runs off just 47 deliveries. His remarkable innings not only propelled India to victory but also earned him the accolade of being the second-fastest Indian to reach a century in T20Is. The match will certainly be etched in the memories of fans for years to come.

Sanju Samson’s explosive innings powered India to a massive 297/6, marking the second-highest T20I team total in history and India’s highest ever in the format.

India broke several records in the game, and the most important landmark was reached by skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Yadav played the supporting hand well for Samson by scoring 35-ball 75. Yadav surpassed Rohit Sharma to become the second-fastest Indian to score 2500 T20I runs, doing so in 71 innings, which is a record. Virat Kohli remains the Indian player who took the shortest possible time to reach 2,500 T20I runs: against West Indies in 2019 in 68 innings.

With the latest victory, Surya has now picked up 6 consecutive wins since becoming full-time T20I skipper.

The story of the match went largely as per expectations. Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson chalked up an imposing partnership of 173 runs, and Riyan Parag also added five ballions, making a quickfire knock of 34 off 13. Hardik Pandya is adding to the momentum now, making a whirlwind 47 off just 18 balls while the Bangla bowlers get hammered.

There was some hope in the run chase when Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy (63 off 42 balls) were at the crease. However, the bowlers proved too strong as the Indian bowlers had been in the first half of the match.

Indian bowling was spearheaded by Ravi Bishnoi, who took 3 wickets at a cost of 40 runs. Mayank Yadav also chipped in with 2 wickets. Varun Chakravarthy was the most economical bowler for the day coming out of the Indian camp, as his 4-over spell went for just 23 runs.

India will now turn their attention to the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand at home. The first Test is set to begin on October 16 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
